I'm Fouad Jallouli. I run design and product teams that ship services people use, and I put AI to work inside that practice. Currently Director of Service Design at the Government of Alberta.
01Introduction
Design and AI, put to work where delivery is hard.
I lead service design and product teams inside government. Big problems, short timelines, and constraints while delivering in a complex organization.
I'm Director of Service Design at the Government of Alberta, running the practice across government. Before this it was the public sector, energy, social services, and transportation. Usually I was the one building a design team where there hadn't been one, back when "service design" still needed explaining.
The work itself hasn't changed much over the years. Get the problem right before you solve it. Ship something real inside systems that don't like to move fast. Build things people will actually use.
What's new is AI. I use it to get from research to working software far faster than I used to, and I spend a lot of time helping teams use it well rather than letting it make their work worse. The goal is the same one I started with: services that are impactful for the people who depend on them.
